In Loving Memory Of
Richard Harris Remley
April 23, 1957 -
April 30, 2026
In the care of
Fraser Funeral Home
Richard Harris Remley was born on April 23, 1957, in Belle Glade, Florida, and passed away on April 30, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harris and Geneva Remley.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his daughter, Angela McDowell; his three grandchildren, Scott McDowell, Charles McDowell, and Kailey McDowell; Brother, William Remley (Susan), Sister Nancy Thompson (John), Nephews, Caleb Thompson (Leslie) and Bill Remley (Kelly); his nieces, Rachel Vaughn (Joseph) and Amanda Strickland (Derek); and many extended family members, cousins, and friends.
Richard approached every endeavor with determination; a quality reflected in his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
He had many interests, including American history, World War II, trains, the Iditarod, and the Georgia Bulldogs, for whom he proudly held season tickets for many years. He was also our family historian, always ready with an answer to any question. He was also a proud American who held a deep respect for our military.
Richard began his career with the Seaboard Coastline Railroad and later spent 34 distinguished years with Publix Supermarkets before retiring in 2023. He was deeply loyal to his family and friends, never met a stranger, and quickly turned new acquaintances into lasting friendships.
He was kind, generous, and gifted with a wonderful sense of humor. Richard achieved more in his life than could ever be fully listed. He loved God, his wife Cathy, his family, his grandchildren, and his faithful sidekick, Dixie. He was a devoted brother and uncle who dearly loved his daughter and grandchildren and was incredibly proud of them.
Richard was a member of Southpoint Baptist Church and believed in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. Because of that faith, we take comfort in knowing we will see him again, and that reunion will be glorious.
John 16:22: “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”
As the apostle Paul wrote, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held on May 30th, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221
