Ruth Jackson Couch beloved wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2026. Born March 25, 1937, she was a graduate of Fernandina Beach High School class of 1955 and continued her education at Orlando Junior College. She was the youngest of seven children, and is predeceased by her parents James Warren Jackson Sr. and Grace Carter Jackson, a son John A. Couch III, her two sisters and four brothers. When she was a young girl her dreams were bold, as bold as her fine free gaze and every gift of grace and mind was hers in her younger days. When she was a girl, a golden girl, with a soul as fine as the most precious of diamonds, she could outshine the brightest jewel that a rich man’s love might buy her. Yes, hers could have been the glittering path through a careless, carefree life, but she fell in love with an Airman and became a military wife. Ruth and John were married July 23, 1960. Away from the home of her childhood, she marched at her husband’s side for she chose a wide and winding road when she became an Airman’s Bride. Sometimes the road was a hard one, so different from what she had planned; To the hardships of being a military wife, she brought one simple truth, a promise, in the Bible, that was spoken in the ancient words of Ruth: “For whither thou goest, I will go. Where thou lodgest, I will lodge; Thy people shall be my people and thy God shall be my God.” She shared her Airman’s joys and sorrows as they made their way through life, for she was proud to love an Airman and to be a military wife. She raised a military family with the faith her love had taught her, and she gave the pride she had inside to her daughter and her sons and she taught them to love freedom and know what it was worth…. She never wished for better than the road they marched through life because she was proud that God gave her the honor to be an Air Force wife. Ruth is survived be her husband, Chief Master Sergeant John A. Couch Jr. USAF Retired and children; Sebrena (Cory), James (Becki), Jeremy (Jennifer) and the crowning point in her life, her precious grandchildren Andrew, Noah, Jonah, Levi and Ella. Ruth’s memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, March 7th at Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Hammond Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl with Dr. Tom Messer, the Senior Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church and Dr. Charles Shoemaker officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
