In Loving Memory Of
Sarah Elizabeth Atteberry
October 19, 1941 -
May 17, 2026
Sarah Elizabeth Atteberry was born on October 19, 1941, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Rev. A.A. “Bob” and Lucille Travis. She went to heaven, surrounded by her family on May 17, 2026.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Albert Travis, and a newborn son.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Atteberry, her children – Scott (Vicki) Atteberry, April (Robert) Whitley, Dana (Kevin) Coleman, Sarah Kay (John) Reneau, Virginia (Jerry) Wetzel, Bobby (Grace) Atteberry, Jerry (Taylor) Atteberry - 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way).
She cherished her friendships and had several lifelong friends including three that she called her sisters.
Sarah was an amazing woman who loved Jesus and loved her family. She served the Lord throughout her life in many ways including church organist, singer, Bible study teacher, choir member and encourager. She had a gift for hosting and often opened her home for church events or just invited people over for a home-cooked meal that always included a homemade dessert. There was always room for one more at her table.
Sarah and Bob were married for 66 years. She adored him and often bragged about the amazing man she married. They were each other’s best friend. Sarah always wanted a large family and was overjoyed that God gave her 7 children. She loved every one of them fiercely. She was their biggest cheerleader, strongest defender and safe place to land.
At her request, the family is going to have a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Northside Baptist Church Legacy Fund (Starke), Community Hospice or any charity that helps children in need.
