Sondra Anderson, born October 17, 1949, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2026, in Sapphire, North Carolina.
Sondra was born and raised in Sneads, Florida where she attended and graduated from Sneads High School before continuing her education at Troy University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology. Later pursuing post graduate work through FSU and Florida A&M. Going on to build a fulfilling career with the State of Florida Disability Determinations, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service.
Sondra lived a life grounded in Christian faith. She was a lifelong lover and advocate for animals and found great joy in building interpersonal relationships and helping others. Much like her parents, Sondra cherished time spent laughing, sharing stories, and making memories with family and friends. Her kindness, compassion, and warm spirit touched many throughout her life.
Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, Coy and Essie Baxter ,and her brother, Dewey Baxter.
She leaves to cherish her memory her Devoted husband of 38 years Jeffrey Anderson. Sisters; Becky Mitchell (Larry), Janet Lopez (José ), Sister In-law Betty Baxter. Her children; Kristy Locklear (Darrell), Kerri Eaton (Rob), Jordan Anderson, and Brooke Carnathan (William); her grandchildren: Paige Saylor (James), Kyley McKibben (Hunter), Kyrra Barclay (Edgar), Caleb Locklear, Bailey Locklear, Jack Eaton, and Weston Anderson. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Brendyn, Ayla, Fiona Saylor, Colton, Madison, Landon McKibben and Meilani Barclay.
She additionally leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A memorial service honoring Sondra's life will be held in her hometown of Sneads, Florida at Salem Wesleyan Church June 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM CDT.
